The Immersion Series
I have been researching and experimenting with iron and iron oxide, off and on, for a few years now in an effort to explore my fascination with, and affinity for, the material. In the course of my study, I have come to understand the profound role that iron plays in my life. Not just in the obvious outward infrastructure of the modern world, but on the micro and macro scales of human biology and the rise of all life in the Universe. I have come to recognize iron, and it's inevitable deterioration and transformation to iron oxide, as a medium well suited to the representation of impermanence. The Immersion Series arose from a desire to visually represent the experience of my existence as a transient being and my inseparability from the 'vibrant matter' of the Universe.
